Love this knife. Super sharp right out of the box, has a nice heft to it but isn't too heavy or overly bulky. Only way it could be better is if it were spring-assisted opening. Pocket clip is reversed from most knives, attached at the end away from the blade instead of where the hinge is. That took some getting used to, but isn't a problem as far as I am concerned.
Awsome knife, razor sharp right out of the box. Solidly built, and good grip and blade position. The only down side I wish it was spring assisted. I have several Ka-Bar knives, about 6. My first was from a U.S. Marine, and used it on combat for the U.S. Army. I have been using Ka-Bar ever since, and always will.
If you are looking for a karambit, kukri, or cutlass pocket knife, this is a great alternative. it dumps all of its kinetic energy when you make a deep slash, and is very easy and ergonomic in a tight pinch utility situation. great knife.
I like the Ka-bar TDI design and carry the fixed blade now on my belt with the help of a custom after market sheath I have extra weight and the stock sheath was to close to my body anyways this knife is nice However I was alittle concerned about the knives ability to close on your hand when open after alittle closer inspection it appears the knife lock will hold the blade with only 1/2" play I will live with that.
I bought this knife TDI folder unfortunately I am not trusting the lock it seems to fail when forced into the hyper extended mode? I own the fixed blade model and Love it however.
Only a 33-year veteran police Lieutenant could truly understand what makes a knife effective for close-quarters defense. While serving as President and Chief Instructor of Tactical Defense Institute, John Benner saw time and time again what he already believed to be true from first-hand experience: In a conflict, fine motor skills deteriorate and gross motor skills are most effective for fending off assailants. Benner then set out to design a low-profile fixed blade knife for law enforcement, military and security personnel that could be drawn quickly and efficiently in times of duress. After more than a year of prototype samples and in-field testing, the Benner-approved TDI knife was put into production. The same basic principles that founded that first knife were incorporated into all future TDI models, which now complete an expansive line of tactical knives.
