I've had my little Ka-Bar Dozier folder for over 2 years now, and it has quickly become my favorite folder. It's simple and doesn't have any annoying little screws that work their way out. The blade is tough and has withstood typical "non-knife" usage (prying, etc) as well as maintaining a sharp edge.
I think that this knife is hands down the best EDC for the price point. No other manufacturer can probably match what ka-bar has to offer in the under $40 EDC. The kife is made in Taiwan, but I believe that ka-bar really takes the time to make sure that bad quality is not an issue. The only thing that was wrong (wrong on my part) was getting the blade in the OD green color. The black painted blade made me "baby" the knife when I used it. Besides that, I love this knife definitely a good investment for an EDC blade that can take a beating and can be used slightly as a tactical folder as well. *EDC- Every Day Carry Thanks, -Jackson Ng.
Just got this knife, feels very sturdy and blade is very sharp. Love the feel of it and how strong the locking system feels. Would definitely recommend this for every day carry.
This knife saved my life! I was held up and when I need it the knife help up too.
Can't beat this value and quality for the price! Has become my main EDC knife. Admittedly I was initially skeptical of the lightweight handle when I first held it, but it has proven to be infinitely stronger than it first leads you first assume, solid. The blade came razor sharp, holds an edge well, sharpens back up nicely and not to mention handles like a dream through most reasonable tasks that this knife was designed for. The entire knife is so unbelievably lightweight, for EDC I often forget I'm even carrying it! I can't say how happy I am with this knife. Bip up Ka-Bar and Bob Dozier for a fine product.
I've had my Dozier folding knife for about 4 years, and it's one of my favorite knives. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.
I was looking for a knife for all around work purposes and I was at a Gun show. There an elderly vendor told me to try this knife. So I picked up the display and cut paper int thin air. I was impressed with the display but I wonder if the knifes he was selling would do the same thing. He told me picke the box you would like, so I did and he did every cut he displayed with the knife I put in my pocket. This thing is Amazing I will never buy a nother brand agian. Between Leapers and Kbar i am proud to buy american products once agian.
bought the folding hunter and also the smaller version,to day I was puting out some suet for the birds frozen solid AND IDO MEAN SOLID.tried 3or 4 diferent knives to no avail ,then pulled out myDozier folding hunter no problem .The birds got their suet and all is well that ends well.Great great knife .Ilive in a small village in Canada ,cant always find Kabars in my neck of the woods but I sure as hell asking for another one for xmas.
I absolutely love this knife. I've been carrying it everyday for the past 6 months and I don't intend to stop. I replaced a much more expensive knife With this one and without a doubt I upgraded. This knife holds an edge like nothing else. I use it for everything from eating to cutting wrapping paper at Christmas. It's very light. Very slender. Very practical and over all just an outstanding knife. Ka-bar could charge double what they do for it and it would still be a great deal. Simply outstanding.
One of the very best valued knives on the market, and my every-day-carry.
This is a great little knife. I carried it for over 5 years before I lost it and it held up great during that time. Just got my replacement in, this one with a black blade so it will be interesting to see how well that holds up.
I really like this small knife. It's perfect for an EDC knife, the only problem I had with mine is it was hard to open out of the box. It's not a problem any more. This will be in my pocket everyday, my wife wants a pink one and I'm going to buy the tan & black one for an extra. I like the lock back better than I do the liner or frame lock knives.
I had to send mine back. I'm left handed so naturally I have to switch the pocket clip and thumb stud over for lefty carry. The pocket clip would not come off the knife even after removing the screws...It's like they glued the clip to the knife! Also, once you remove the thumb stud and switch it for lefty carry, it's almost impossible to tighten the stud down completely... I don't know why Kabar couldn't just make this with dual thumb studs!
I need EDC. I choose this because it's light weight and have back lock. (I don't like liner lock) best choice for lefthand people. Negative? My piece open very hard (when I don't have big clearence in the pin) and I must tuned the handle.
Had this knife for about a week it is possibly the best folder I have ever owned. I love it
I just got my small Dozier a few weeks ago I was worried that it would be to light and that I would forget about it and lose it as soon as I opened the box I fell in love with this knife with a pretty thick blade for a pocket knife and how amazing KA-BAR holds an amazing blade-Samuel De Leon
Pros: Good Steel Cons: Nearly impossible to switch to left hand carry (thumb stud and pocket clip are ridiculous to remove! Handle feels like the cheapest plastic in the world. Knife feels flimsy in the hand. Bought two of these after having problems converting the first to left hand carry. Same problems with second... Sent both back. Won't be buying again. Ka-bar does not want to listen to customers and use dual thumb studs and change clip design to remove easier. Oh well, their loss!
I absolutely love this knife, it is rugged and perfect for EDC. The is no favorite EDC knife.
I absolutely like this folding knife...I have carried a lot of lock back folders and for the money this one is by far the best that I have owned. Great EDC and perfectly priced! I recommend this product to anyone who wants a durable, light weight EDC that wont let you down. Thanks KA BAR!
I have a lot of good knives to choose from, but after I purchased this one it's all I carry. I abuse this thing in every way, pry chisel beat twist you name it...and it still has a great edge that is easy to sharpen up. I don't carry imported knives, although I have one or two that were gifts given to me. For this one, however, I made an exception (made in Taiwan) because it's a Bob Dozier design which is simple and makes a great work knife, and it is very light and easy to carry every day. I would love to see it made in USA, and would replace mine with the USA made version in a heartbeat. Triple the price, make it in the US, and we will still pay. Even with this Taiwanese version of a Dozier, BUY IT....and please, put it to hard work. It loves it. And write Kabar and request a USA made version for an upcharge. Maybe they will listen.
I have bought KaBar Dozier Hunter for about 25€. I choose it among 300 other folding knives. I dont regret it. Its small but very strong. It has a beautiful design. I use it everyday. Thank you KaBar and Bob Dozier
Knife-making has woven its way throughout Bob Dozier’s life. His interest first began when, as a boy, he learned from his grandfather how to forge files and springs into useable knives. For much of his young adult life, he made and sold knives that were well-recognized for their quality, hardness and edge holding ability. Thirty years after first making knives in a manufacturing setting, Dozier came to KA-BAR with a large side lock folding prototype. Working with KA-BAR's team to modify the knife design for practical large scale production, the Dozier Thorn was finalized for sale at the end of 2001. Today, KA-BAR offers eighteen Dozier designed products and work is continually underway to develop the next great collaboration.
