a good economical close quarter knife. this kinife is very well made for the price and a great design for close quarter defense situations. I bought one for my daughter in law for working late night.
The first thing I notice about this blade, was how light it was upon taking it out of the packaging. After about two weeks of carrying it EDC I also noticed how good you can conceal it (it does not print), also it secures very good in the supplied sheath but is fast enough on the draw when need. Coming to the purpose of this knife which is defensive, from the information I gathered on this blade over the two and a half month period I've carried it. You would have no problem "getting this knife into the fight" under stress with practice of course. Also this knife is very comfortable in hand it has no sharp edges on the handle and you can secure it very well with the geometry of the knife handle. The texture on the knife handle is very low however the handle geometry allows a sufficient fighting grip. The sheath also has a well executed design, it clips to a 1.5" belt very securely w/ minimal up/down movement. The clip is metal. It has a drain hole to get rid of excess amounts of liquid if you were to go "swimming" with this knife and lastly the steel sharpens easily but retains an edge pretty good. Now for my Cons. 1. The knife is Overseas produced (but is quality controlled), The black coating on the blade wears off very easily and (not that big of a problem but) I would like to see about 1/2" of jimmping on the spine for an even more secure grip. If I notice any more Pros or Cons I will write a review update. I hope this helps you and, you purchase this awesome knife.
2.5 Oz light. Razor sharp. Almost invisible matte black. Full tang. Disappears in my meaty palm. Cuts with a touch, slices with a gentle stroke. Open your hand and it stays put. No one can take it and using it against you. Very small but very capable. Way ahead of any folder. This knife is so good, now have four varieties: 2 5/8" original, 3.5" ankle, 3 5/8" large and 1 3/4" last ditch.
I checked out a number of reviews and this knife had very good reviews. I bought it with the intention of putting it on my strong side hip, in the waistband. Since I saw how this knife 'draws like a pistol', I thought it would be a great addition. However, when I tried it I found a safety issue in using it this way. If you are used to drawing a pistol and go to the knife the same way, your index finger ends up along side the blade. People should be aware of this. I never ran across this input when I was shopping it. In any case, it seems like a decent knife. I am going to see about maybe taking some of the plastic off in the thickest part of the sheath and run it with no clip in the pocket.
I do a lot of late night running and wanted something that would be light enough to carry on my side, but still provide the intimidation and if need be defensive abilities that a dangerous encounter might demand. This knife meets all the requirements that I had, its light, intimidating, holds tight to my side, and feels very natural in my hand. I love this knife and can say with confidence that it is the best option out there for a late night runner.
Only a 33-year veteran police Lieutenant could truly understand what makes a knife effective for close-quarters defense. While serving as President and Chief Instructor of Tactical Defense Institute, John Benner saw time and time again what he already believed to be true from first-hand experience: In a conflict, fine motor skills deteriorate and gross motor skills are most effective for fending off assailants. Benner then set out to design a low-profile fixed blade knife for law enforcement, military and security personnel that could be drawn quickly and efficiently in times of duress. After more than a year of prototype samples and in-field testing, the Benner-approved TDI knife was put into production. The same basic principles that founded that first knife were incorporated into all future TDI models, which now complete an expansive line of tactical knives.
