I bought this about a month ago and started wearing it on my 5.11 Double Duty TDU belt. It hides behind the other stuff on my duty belt so well that my boss just noticed it yesterday. The serrated blade seems to grab whatever I want to cut and goes right through seat belts, nylon rope, and plastic zip-cuffs. The full-tang design of the knife makes its extremely sturdy, and the scales make it it comfortable to hold. I hope I never have to use the TDI LEK as a last-ditch/firearm retention weapon, but I have no doubt it will do the job.
excellent! as a bodyguard, discreteness is essential. i wear either on my left front waist or inner right ankle. great quality, size and weight.
It's easy to unsheathe, and it really does go through anything I want to cut with ease. I do a lot of running while in uniform, and my worst fear is it will fly out of the sheath. So far I have not had one incident where it has come unsheathed when I did not intend to draw it. I have never accidentally cut myself quick-drawing the blade either. My only complaint is I feel it is too short to be accurate when used quickly. I'll be ordering the longer straightedge version very soon.
Don't buy this knife if you want to use it sharp. If you use it, it will get dull. Kabar won't resharpen it and despite their claims of us made products, they slipped and admitted these are made in Taiwan. You can't resharpen this knife. The sheath also gets loose and fails to properly secure the knife. Unless you want a throw away blade, and for serious professional use, their are better choices.
I carry it everyday as it's the only full handle fix blade that I have found that's under 2.5" and meet building security regulations. As a federal employee I commute in and out of DC on the metro and without this serrated shark I would be a defenseless victim. It's easy to sharpen using a serreadted shaping stone that I purchased at Walmart and I have gotten it super sharp. It survived several deployments to Afghanistan. It never fell out of my chest rig.. Loved this design so much that I purchased the Large TDI.
I have been using this drop point serrated knife for 10 years or so. The kydex sheath fits on my uniform pants belt and holds the knife in place well. As a police officer I have this positioned on my "off side" as an aid to weapon retention. It fits discretely behind gear on my duty belt.... I like this knife so much that I'm looking into buying a belt clip sheath so I can carry it off duty as well.
Only a 33-year veteran police Lieutenant could truly understand what makes a knife effective for close-quarters defense. While serving as President and Chief Instructor of Tactical Defense Institute, John Benner saw time and time again what he already believed to be true from first-hand experience: In a conflict, fine motor skills deteriorate and gross motor skills are most effective for fending off assailants. Benner then set out to design a low-profile fixed blade knife for law enforcement, military and security personnel that could be drawn quickly and efficiently in times of duress. After more than a year of prototype samples and in-field testing, the Benner-approved TDI knife was put into production. The same basic principles that founded that first knife were incorporated into all future TDI models, which now complete an expansive line of tactical knives.
