KA-BAR KNIVES UNVEILS NEW PRODUCTS FOR 2011
OLEAN, NY – KA-BAR Knives is proud to introduce over 40 new products for 2011. New offerings for 2011 include the ZK line, USMC Fighting and Utility Knife-inspired Big Brother, TDI folders, the Becker Magnum Camp and Becker Eskabar, and the Mark I.
The ZK line features four fixed blade knives, one folder, and a skeleton knife. The four fixed blades, inspired by the four horsemen of the apocalypse, are the “Famine” Tanto, the “War” Sword, the “Pestilence” Chopper, and the “Death” Dagger. The “Kharon” is a tanto folder and the “Acheron” is a skeleton knife packaged with the four ZK fixed blade knives. The ZK knives feature a bio-hazard green GFN-PA66 handle, but also come with interchangeable black handle scales. The ZK line will be available May 1, 2011.
The Big Brother, the largest member in the KA-BAR Fighting/Utility knife family, features a 9 3/8” blade and measures 14 3/8” overall. Available in leather or Kraton handle, the Big Brother features a straight bottom edge and a top serrated edge and measures 1 ¾” wide blade. Both models of the Big Brother come with a leather sheath. Made in Olean, NY, the Big Brother will be available May 1, 2011.
The KA-BAR TDI Law Enforcement series welcomes a folding knife to the line in 2011. The TDI folder measures 7 ½” when open and is equipped with a 3 5/8” blade. Available either straight or serrated, TDI folders are currently available for purchase.
The Becker Magnum Camp and Eskabar take their place in the Becker Knife & Tool series. The Magnum Camp features a 7” 1095 Cro-van steel blade and grivory handle. The Eskabar, collaboration between KA-BAR, Becker, and ESEE Knives, has a 3 ¼” 1095 Cro-van steel blade. The Magnum Camp and Eskabar are currently available.
The Mark I, a World War II US Navy knife, returns to service in 2011. The Kraton-handled Mark I has a 5 1/8” 1095 Cro-van blade and is offered either straight or serrated with a hard plastic sheath. A leather handle version is also available through Blue Ridge Knives. The Mark I is available May 1, 2011.
Also new for 2011 are folding knives in the FIN and Johnson Adventure Blade (JAB) lines. The FIN “Mojo” folder features a 3 3/8” blade and G10 handles. The Mojo is available with a straight or serrated blade. The Johnson Adventure Blade “Piggyback” and “Baconmaker” folders measure 7 7/8” long. The 3 3/8” blade mirrors the fixed blade Baconmaker and Piggyback design. The FIN Mojo is currently available for purchase. The JAB Baconmaker and Piggyback folders will be available May 1, 2011.
Additionally, two new commemorative KA-BAR knives will be offered in 2011. An Operation Enduring Freedom commemorative, available in US Army, US Navy, and USMC, is currently available. A 9/11 commemorative is also available in US Army, US Navy, and USMC. A 14” Grass Machete and the Heavy Duty Warthog are new additions to the KA-BAR Heavy Cutting Tool line. Both blades are made of 1085 carbon and feature a Kraton handle. The Heavy Duty Warthog measures 12 ¼” and has a 6 ¾” blade. The Grass Machete features a 14” blade and measures 19 ½” overall. The Grass Machete comes with a cordura sheath, while the Warthog is packaged with a leather cordura sheath. Both will be available June 15, 2011.
Ten traditional folding knives have been added to the KA-BAR Union and Traditional Knife line. These knives feature either a reclaimed American chestnut or Ram’s Horn handle. The traditional folders feature the Union Cutlery Dog’s Head insignia and are made in America. The traditional folders will be available in April 2011.
