How can you not love this knife. It is the USMC Fighting Knife on steroids. You'll immediately feel the strength of this knife when you pick it up. Mine goes with me whenever I am afield.
Owned it. Used it. Loving it.
Great knife, miserable sheath. Very disappointed in the latter and now facing $65-$100 to have a decent replacement made. Suggest buyers consider the 5" model which comes with a proper sheath.
I've owned my BK7 for almost two years now and I am very impressed. I have owned many knives and this is the BEST large knife I have ever owned. My BK7 slices, chops, and holds an edge like CRAZY. I didn't like the sheath and bought a Kydex sheath. The knife itself is GREAT. I would definitly buy another one if I got separated from mine.
Great knife that I've put through some pretty hardcore use. Been used to fall trees 5+ inches in diameter, does excellent battoning, and holds an edge well. Like another review said, it's more or less the USMC on steroids.
This knife is solid! My wife and daughters got it for me for Father's day and even had it engraved. The weight is appropriate and feels comfortable in the hand. They did get me the miacrta handles, and those are significantly better than the plastic ones that it comes with. The sheath is not superb, but it can last a while with good care. I have been a big Kabar fan for a while, and now I think I found a new favorite. Thanks.
Great knife. Very sharp and holds an edge well. Extremely tough and will do whatever it is you expect it to. Only downfall is that it rusts VERY easily. Used it one day in damp conditions and the whole edge was spotted with rust within a few hours.
Have used this knife as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal range knife for years and have cut ammo box bands, dug holes, cut tires, and many other things needed on an explosive range. The knife bears up and re-sharpens very well.
There's no word to describe this blade. Let's say the moment I opened the box it was like the perfect sun rise on top of mount Lafayette. The first time I brought down a tree with the knife I felt like Paul Bunyan. I'm a forestry technician and on-going forestry engineering and this knife found it's place next to my duck tape. And like my teacher said; Can't duck it, fuck it. And this knife will make any task your bitch.
The minute I opened the box and seen this fabulous knife and very Versatel sheath I knew this was what I was looking for. It's strong, tough and perfect for any job it's called on to do. There is no need to look any further. The handle is great too, but I've also ordered Micara slats for better grip went wet. Don't hesitate to own one. You will love it.
If you are in any way wondering if the BK7 is the right knife for the job, I say PULL THE TRIGGER on this knife and buy it yesterday! The BK7 shines as a defensive blade, but it also excels as a backwoods survival knife. I believe that is what BK stands for, "Bush Kraft," The BK7 will fall a tree, baton it into little pieces like a boss, and then with its hair popping edge it will make short work of a feather stick. Mod it as I did by grinding a 90 degree spine on it and the 1095 steel will shower down sparks on your unsuspecting tinder pile like it was Sodom and Gomorrah! I also grinded a finger choil and dressed it up with G10 scales for a custom fit. This knife has it all Baby!
came on guys ,why do you stop making the bk7 with the stamped logo on it ??? now my friends think i do have a fake one.
I have been using the Becker BK-7 for several months now, and it has had to withstand some serious punishment. I have to say this knife is amazing. It splits wood logs quite easily, and can create some fine shavings for tinder. I recently stripped the black epoxy coating off, well, just because. Mostly because it was coming off anyways, due to the rigorous beating i've been giving it. The edge holds extremely well, as long as it doesn't hit concrete. Made the mistake of bouncing it off a cinder block, and the curved part near the end chipped a tad. Would highly recommend!
Knife is great. Sheath is junk. Why wrap a beautiful blade in such a lousy sheath?
Love the BK 7 & the whole BK series of knives, the only reason I gave 4 stars is the sheaths, you guys should give us more sheath options that are made in the USA! For the price we pay the series should give us sheath options and not just a plain taco Kydex version either, why not give us fire options for the Kydex, or even light options? Piggy back blade options in Kydex would be nice as well. we pay premium cash for the blades and we'd like some premium carry options as well for our money. Thanks for a nice trustworthy blade !! I will buy more of them.
I have an original Becker BK7. I can say it has never failed me through Iraq twice and a trip to the Stand. My fathers generation depended on the KaBar and I have never felt less armed with the Becker. I'm gald to see that KaBar is still makeing some of the Becker designs and just hope they keep it up.
I bought this knife for generic bushcraft stuff and it actually wound up serving as tool for renovating my camper as well. I've had this beauty for about a week now and I've abused it hardcore already and it is STILL sharp, reliable and ready to serve. This knife is the biggest bang for your buck
Ethan Becker is a man after our own heart. An avid outdoorsman who enjoys martial arts and hunting, Becker founded Becker Knife and Tool Corporation in the early 1980's to design the industrial-strength tactical and survival knives he'd always wanted for himself. What we love about Becker, other than his innovative designs, is that he spends so much time in the outdoors testing new equipment and designs. KA-BAR is proud to be the manufacturer of Becker's five best-selling models - all introduced this year and brought up to date and approved by Becker himself.
