This knife is by far the best built knife I have ever owned. You could pound stakes with the butt end and carve a spear with the other. It feels solid as a rock in my hand and I had no problem field dressing my first deer with it even with the handle covered in blood I had no problem gripping it. I would not hesitate to buy another one for a friend because I will never need another for myself unless I lose it.
This my favorite knife and my EDC. I modified the leather sheath and made it into an IWB which fits nicely into the small of the back. I use it for everything and would trust my life to one. Made in the U.S.A. there is no better product for your money. Thanks
Superior ,made in the USA !Wow
this is a fantastic knife! strong, durable, reliable, and it takes a good edge. i carry it by my side where ever i go, i take it hunting, camping, fishing, hiking, even to the groucery store. i love this knife and i carry it with pride! although im a soldier in the army and not a marine, i still carry and love this knife. KA-BAR; i think you should make a knife for the Army that i know would be better than the current issued knife, the Gerber LMF 2.
Having smaller hands, this knife is a comfortable fit and being less conspicuous, it's more convenient for EDC than the full size version. 1095 steel takes an edge fairly well and tends to retain it under reasonable use. That being said, the edge on mine was very disappointing. It was MOSTLY straight, but the grind is so coarse that you can see the scratch pattern from three feet away and it isn't anywhere approaching anything you could call sharp. Luckily I have professional sharpening equipment and can fix this, but I shouldn't have to. Ka-bar knives have a deep history. They're attractive and good, solid pieces of steel, but a dull edge right out of the box is unforgivable for such a celebrated brand.
This is an awesome knife! Yes, it is shorter than the original but I bought it for that exact purpose! In my state, it is legal to carry at this size! I have thrown many tasks at it and it does not stop! This knife gets scary sharp and will hold its sharpness throughout many tasks! I have nothing but good things to say about this knife and would definitely recommend this to anyone in the market for a new knife!
I have owned my ka bar for years and has never failed me in the wilderness. Best knife and build for life..
Bought this knife for an everyday carrier. The grind on the blade is nice but the top grind is way off and can not even be sharpened with out destroying the finish. WHICH I HAVE DONE. I am highly disappointed with the skill of the grinder and I am ready to trash this knife, because I am ashamed to show it off with the messed up finish. If I would have notice the BAD top grind I would not have sharpened it to begin with.
I find it hard to imagine a better knife of this type that is not covered in gold, emeralds and ebony Maybe the grind is a bit low, but that makes it better for carving
This knife is my first Ka-bar knife as far as style and brand and I'm pretty impressed. I took her to a local knife shop to clean up the flat grind and added a sabre grind to the clip/false edge. It doesn't come with a sharpened false edge but Ka-Bar makes a pretty good point of making sure that it is possible. After those few adjustments. This is vey well the best fixed blade knife I've owned so far. I totally recommend it for anyone who is looking for a great edc for self defense or everyday cutting. 5 Stars from me!
