    • Bob Dozier

Knife-making has woven its way throughout Bob Dozier's life. His interest first began when, as a boy, he learned from his grandfather how to forge files and springs into useable knives. For much of his young adult life, he made and sold knives that were well-recognized for their quality, hardness and edge holding ability. Thirty years after first making knives in a manufacturing setting, Dozier came to KA-BAR with a large side lock folding prototype. Working with KA-BAR's team to modify the knife design for practical large scale production, the Dozier Thorn was finalized for sale at the end of 2001. Today, KA-BAR offers eighteen Dozier designed products and work is continually underway to develop the next great collaboration.

      • I've had this knife about a year. I vastly prefer it to the other Dozier folding knife, which, while nearly identical, hurt my thumb to repeatedly open and close. The knife is sturdily built, with an excellent clip, well textured grip, and one of the best locks I've ever operated. That said, the blade doesn't hold an edge very well in my experience. It was noticeably duller after cutting open a medium-sized cardboard box, in one instance. The stainless steel is soft, but stainless has it's own advantages. I've stopped EDCing it and keep it with my fishing gear, where it does whatever I ask of it without rusting. That said, I bought it to carry every day, and I didn't intend to carry a sharpener on me at all times. Not what I expected from this knife, although I confess my inexperience with stainless steel knives.

      • Just bought this knife for a Christmas present. Ordered it in a orange color. Great for everyday use and the price was right.
