  - I heard about the release of this knife in spring and since then I hardly waited getting one. In august I bought it and when it came at my door, MAN, I was soooo impressed. I should talk here 3-4 pages about this outstanding knife, but all can be summarized in one word: PERFECTION. I took it in some bushcraft trips and had some time testing. Anything you have in mind it can stand straight. I have complete confidence in that knife. I highly recommend. Well done Ka-Bar!

  - I recently took my Big Brother on a 100+ mile solo canoe trip down the Altamaha River. I planned for the knife to be a replacement for a light axe, a machete and a utility knife. It did the job in outstanding fashion. Hacking through small to medium limbs of hardwood in one cut and chopping larger ones better than any light camp axe. The factory edge was great and very very sharp. Even the sheath is of superior quality and will only get better with age. And you just can't ignore the cool factor of having a knife like this on your belt. You're gonna want a tie-down though, it's just too big to let flap around! This is my first Ka-Bar, but it sure won't be my last.

  - I was able to have the knife engraved right at the factory in Olean N.Y. This knife is a medium to large size weapon and is highly practical for survival purposes. It's built very well in the traditional way they made the previous military fighters.

  - I LOVE THIS KNIFE! I would sleep with it if my wife let me. I received this knife a short time ago and have fallen in love with it. It's a beast. Razor sharp straight out of the box. A large comfortable handle allows me to easily control the large knife. Sheath is excellent quality however the knife is on the large side so you definitely need to lash this bad boy down. I cannot wait to field test the blade on my next hunting trip! It looks cool too.....cannot forget the look....and its KA-BAR. It's my first, but not my last.

  - At first I was skeptical, but ended up pleasantly surprised. As I searched on youtube for video of this knife being demonstrated and having found none I put the knife to the test myself. I started with a chop test with a 3 inch flat slab of oak, I chopped at the edge of the oak slab as hard as I could. I had wood chips flying everywhere. Then, I tried a stab test with the flat side of the oak slab. I stabbed the flat side with the tip of the blade until the tip heated up. Then, I used the edge of the blade and slammed it into the flat side of the oak and it cut deeply without getting stuck. Now, comes the outdoor test. I live in Erie, Pennsylvania where it is so cold that trees freeze solid because temperatures fall below zero and this day was no exception. I went down to a wooded area just off of the lake, I found a 6 inch diameter tree and did another chop test. In 7 easy strokes I cut down this frozen tree. I chopped off several limbs and decided to try the serrated edge of the blade. It made fuzz sticks for a fire quite easily. I was also able to do this with the main edge of the blade that I just beat up. I could also cut many materials with the serrated edge of the blade such as, a towel that was rolled up tight, canvas and other like material. To my surprise, the serrated edge after being used got sharper. The main edge of the blade and the tip never dulled. The thinness of the blade in the defensive test made this knife very fast and tactical compared to other conventional knives of this type. In conclusion, I think this has been the most underestimated knife because people take a look at the thinness of the blade and don't think that it will hold up compared to other survival knives. Well it does and I should have known better after all....it is a Ka-Bar!

  - this surpassed my sog tomahawk. it hit a rock, cut 14 trees of 5" diameter, and on top of it all, was used to split and further more chop and even whittle... the blade is still sharp with no dents whatso ever. thank you all for your work. God bless

  - I love the quality of the blade. My first Ka-Bar and I'm am genuinely impressed because I thought the leather handle would be soft but it's solid and I enjoy the strong, soft, light weight of it because truly it functional. The 20° grind was more lenient to the right so one side of the tip actually ended being 30° but it was fixable with time.

  - Got this as a gift to replace my well used usmc sweated and I thought that I would never love another ka-bar like I did with my old one but I love the big brother I love on a farm and I'm a biker that goes on long hauls I can not say enough good things about this knife

  - The knife is a wonderful thing to look at, and in my use, it worked very well. Make no mistake, I beat that knife hard, but the last knife I had as a cheap bowie from amazon and it lasted for 2 years. most KA-BARs have a similar issue of bending at the handle/tang; but after 3 weeks of cutting bushes and small trees, the knife had a 5.6-degree bend, that only got worse, I could put it into a vice to straiten it, but I fear to fatigue the metal. The knife itself was very good, it stayed reasonably sharp, and had excellent balance, only that it didn't last as long as I expected.

  - Amazing blade. Very high quality and great design. One of my favorites in the collection. This is a larger blade and I wouldn't choose it as my first pick for survival or camping. With a 9.375 inch blade this is a menacing looking weapon! A great first pick for home defense or the apocalypse. The back sided serrated edge is very cool addition for cutting cordage or food. Feels good to hold and uses the familiar leather handle of the smaller Ka-Bar blades.

  - I like this knife a lot. Very comfortable, very beautiful. But know this, the tang is not strong enough for the weight of the blade- this is the sacrifice for the comfortable KA-BAR standard handle. After using it for a while, you'll notice the blade shifting to one side, and it progressively gets worse. The more you straighten it, the softer it gets. For frequent use, not a reccommend. However, on the number of times I have taken it out camping, I've cut down decent sized trees with it (one about 5" in diameter), cut and split firewood, learned to throw it and have generally gotten good use out of it in the years I've had it. The only other thing I don't like about this knife is that the saw on the back is pretty useless and redundant. Anything the saw can cut the blade can cut too, and I'd like to be able to put two hands on it to be able to carve large pieces of wood easier. In my opinion, 4 stars is a little generous, but it's a pretty decent knife, very nice for light use in the woods, definitely not a workhorse.
